I have heard this phrase repeatedly over the last several months.
Okay, I thought, I'll own my power. But what is my power and how
do I own it? This occupied my large but relatively unused brain
for many months before I came up with an answer which suits me.
Power is energy which has as its quality the ability to get things
done. It is active and passive. Owning something is claiming or
acknowledging that you have or are it. Personal power is that
ability to do or act which comes to you by that acknowledgement.
I claim that I am psychic rather than saying I read Tarot cards.
That statement takes that psychic ability and places it inside
me. I feel the power of that statement. Because I have moved it
from a place outside of myself and placed it within me, it is
always mine to use. That is power!
This is the time for you to own your power. Acknowledge who you
are and what you do. If you are psychic then admit it to yourself
and to others. If you are a healer then admit it and do it. If
you have knowledge and wisdom then share it. Whatever talents
and abilities you have, claim them and express them. Modesty is
telling the truth. If you do not admit who and what you are, then
you are lying. This is not a time for false modesty. If you work
well with animals, know how to grow things, then do it. Whatever
your particular talents and abilities are, find a way to express
them. Ask your inner guidance, ask a friend or ask a psychic.
But find out what it is and do it. Whatever it is, be comfortable
with it. Don't do it because you think you should or because a
friend or psychic told you to do it. Do it because you want to.
Do it because it feels right to you. The world will be a better
place for it.
Personal Power is accepting who you are, being honest with
yourself and others. I have NEVER had a bad experience, either
personally or professionally, when I was being honest about myself,
who I was and what I had done and could do. People respect honesty.
When you accept who you are, you no longer have to make excuses
for yourself; you no longer have to try to be somebody. You already
are somebody: yourself. You don't need to worry how to play the
part of yourself, so you can then pay attention to more important
things, like devoting your full attention to what is happening
in your life at any given moment. Worrying about who you are takes
much energy and weakens you.
When I was sixteen, I decided that since all of my friends wanted
to talk about themselves, in order to have friends, I would listen
to them and not talk about myself. This was a conscious decision.
Because of that decision, I never learned how to converse socially.
Small talk, back and forth, is beyond me. Once I learned to accept
that aspect of myself AS OKAY, I became much more comfortable
in all interpersonal situations. I no longer tried to impress
anybody with my sociability, so I had more energy to devote to
things that I am and can do well.
Not everybody is the same. We all have different talents and abilities.
We are all special, but in different and unique ways. We aren't
here to "fit into" society. We aren't here to be like
everybody else. We are here to express creatively who we are;
to express those talents and abilities which we have that others
may not have like we do. We are also here to develop talents and
abilities which are latent in us and which are begging to come
forth. We can't be comfortable with ourselves if we suppress who
we are or if we try to be something we are not.
Power is accepting who we are as we are, without judgment. For
then so much of our Self and our energy is flowing smoothly, that
new insights and awarenesses come flowing outward in abundant
measure and it is much easier to live with ourselves. We are content
to be who we are and therefore where we are. We are much more
in the moment and the power increases tenfold when we are who
we are in the moment.
Time slows down and we can get much more done. Our minds are not
cluttered with trying to project an image of ourselves. Who we
are speaks for us. Because our minds are not cluttered, the knowledge
from within can filter through to our conscious minds. It is almost
like being in a meditative state twenty-four hours a day. Try
it today and see the positive changes immediately.
