In the Kansas City newspaper in late December, 1988, there appeared an editorial on what was coming in the years ahead. I do not remember whether it was a local author or whether it was syndicated. I took horrific offense to one premise in the article. It was a given that the human population would wear out or pollute the Earth in the next 25 to 50 years to such an extant that it would be uninhabitable, thereby necessitating the development of the space program to accomplish the removal of the human population to another planet. This was seen not as something of which to be ashamed, but rather the normal course of human events.

I was appalled at the ignorance and unfeelingness of the article. The Earth is our ultimate, totally recycling, natural resource. It will give us everything we could ever need or want. If they destroy this planet, they should not be allowed to have another one. THE DESTRUCTION OF THIS PLANET IS NOT TO BE TOLERATED OR ALLOWED.

Do not be apathetic or resigned in this regard. Place in your consciousness that you will not tolerate any action or behavior which has a negative effect upon our environment. You can, but it is not necessary to, write letters. Your outrage and total respect for our Mother, the Earth, can be felt in the Collective Human Consciousness and can bring about great change. Vote only for those politicians who are committed to environmental protection. Let all of your actions reflect your total respect and commitment. Each of you must decide for yourselves how you will express this. YOU ARE NOT HELPLESS. Stand up and COMMAND the human population of the Earth to stop polluting the Earth and remember how to live in harmony with our greatest renewable natural resource.
