EARTH CHANGES

Earth changes are the predictions for worldwide cataclysms, including earthquakes, volcano, floods, etc., which have been made for the last two decades. There are two factors at work here. The first is that the Earth undergoes periodic changes and re-alignment of her surface and we are overdue for just such a change. The Earth is a living, breathing, growing entity and occasionally needs to release built up tension. The second factor is that the earth has to rid herself of the pollution which mankind has generated since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Many of the changes are already predicted to have happened. Two years ago I was in St. Louis and read pamphlets published there by the U.S. Geological Survey which said that the New Madrid Fault was due for a quake, within ten years, the size of which struck the area in Dec. 1813 and Jan. 1814. It struck with such force that it sent a tidal wave up the Mississippi River that traveled for two days. Natives said that the Mississippi "ran backwards" for two days. Scientists in California say that there is a 50% chance that an earthquake the size of which leveled San Francisco in 1906 will hit the area in the next twenty to thirty years. There is a lot of scientific substantiation for many of the earth change predictions. Jeffrey Goodman PhD, in his book We are the Earthquake Generation, addresses this in much detail.

The changes are supposed to make humanity begin to respect, and live in closer harmony with, the earth. Someone also said that the purpose of prophecy is to be wrong. Since 1975, the weather in the Kansas City area, where I had lived for many years, has been anything except normal; too hot, too cold, too wet, or too dry. 1975 began the first of three record cold winters in a row. In 1977 the Plaza flood occurred, which dropped 26 inches of rain in two days; a so-called five hundred year flood. 1980 gave KC the record-setting heat wave. 1981-3 gave them two months of solid rain every Spring; months during which they would receive measurable precipitation 25 out of 30 days. In 1982-4-6 there was a killer frost in late April which killed all the early gardens and the blossoms on the trees and flowers. 1986 gave us the horrible drought in the Southeastern US. 1988 brought the drought to the Midwest and Northwest. California and the rest of the West Coast was in severe drought conditions from 1986 to 1991 before any relief appeared. The East Coast, the West Coast and the Great Lakes regions have had terrible storms with devastating erosion of the beaches. To me it is obvious that something is up.

It is hard to imagine extrapolating today's current society twenty-five years into the future. We have been a greedy, warlike Race which is on the verge of exporting our war into space, using up all of our non-renewable resources, and polluting the earth beyond her ability to recover in our lifetimes or that of our children.

However, even though many earthquakes and other devastating natural disasters have been predicted for the last ten to twenty years, they haven't happened yet. Why not? Are the psychics and prophets wrong? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe the predictions have done the job for which they were intended. I feel that we have raised the Consciousness of the Human Race, thereby postponing and lessening the eventual severity of the changes which will come.

Something is going to happen. If not major earth cataclysms which would reshape the face of the earth and cut the earth's human population by four billion people, then maybe such a shift in human consciousness and awareness of which this old earth has never seen the likes in the ten million years of human consciousness on this planet. Just maybe the earth changes refer in part to a shift in awareness in which we will rapidly learn to live in harmony and respect for Mother Earth, learn to live in peace with our neighbors, and learn that power and greed are vices rather than virtues. We are entering the age of Aquarius, the thousand years of peace, a fourth dimensional consciousness. The times, they are a changin'.

I have no idea myself if these earth changes will occur or, if they occur, how severe they might be. But cataclysmic changes have happened in the past. Around the turn of the last century a mammoth was found frozen in the Siberian tundra. When it was thawed out, the flesh was still fresh enough to eat and it had tropical vegetation undigested in its belly. It had frozen completely in a matter of hours and it was living in a tropical climate. Draw your own conclusions. One writer claims to have identified five pairs of indentations on opposite sides of the globe from each other. His point was that the earth is flattened at the polar regions, and these represented five different North and South poles. (There are also many predictions of a shift of the North and South poles by such people as Edgar Cayce, Ruth Montgomery, and Jose Arguelles who wrote The Mayan Factor which spawned the Harmonic Convergence.)

Two early Christian mystics named the popes until the end of the Church. John Paul II is the second to the last. We are in times of great change. There are many survivalist groups which are preparing for the end of civilization as we know it. They are stockpiling food, seed grains, supplies and other things which will be needed after a time of great catastrophe. I do not feel so moved to do that. This is a time of community and sharing. My focus is on each of us playing our own inner-directed roles and knowing there will be enough for all of us. The ultimate goal for each of us is to find our security within ourselves.
